An important milestone in the history of conservation in Mexico was celebrated with joy and excitement: the 25 years of operation of the Protected Areas Fund (FANP), reflected in the publication of the book "FANP: 25 Years, 25 Stories." Written directly by local actors who work in protected areas (PAs), these 25 stories reflect the diversity of experiences that highlight the importance of conserving Mexico's natural and cultural treasures. The book groups these stories into five main themes: conservation, restoration, fire management, sustainable use, and environmental education.

Within the framework of the 8th edition of the Conservation Knowledge Exchange Week (SICC, acronym in Spanish), held on September 27, 2023, in Mexico City, and together with the National Commission of Protected Areas (CONANP, acronym in Spanish), various organizations and groups of local producers, FMCN had the honor of being part of a memorable event with the presentation of the book. The event recognized the effort, enthusiasm, and dedication to make the FANP today one of the most recognized financial mechanisms for priority natural areas in Latin America and the world.

The FANP was born in 1997 to strengthen the PAs of Mexico. Throughout these years and thanks to the tireless work of the local communities and organizations that inhabit and contribute to the PAs, to the brave CONANP personnel who work in the field, to the cooperation of the three levels of government, to the valuable contribution from the academy, and the fiduciary commitment of FMCN that has the support of more than 24 donors, the FANP today strengthens the operation of 55 PAs, promoting strategic activities for their management and conservation.
