Natural Protected Areas
The Program for the Conservation of Protected Natural Areas (PCANP) of the Mexican Fund for Nature Conservation, A.C. (FMCN) supports the efficient use of financial resources in the protected natural areas (ANP) of Mexico administered by the National Commission of Protected Natural Areas (CONANP). It provides tools to strengthen its operation and ensure the conservation of representative ecosystems in the long term.
The PCANP and CONANP work together to create and strengthen present and future synergies around training, climate change, biological monitoring, remote monitoring and cooperation with civil society organizations (CSOs).
Currently, the PCANP operates through the following initiatives:
- Fund for Natural Protected Areas (FANP): that seeks to support the efficient use of financial resources channeled by FMCN to the ANPs of Mexico administered by the National Commission of Natural Protected Areas (CONANP).
- Learning Community of Natural Protected Areas: its aim is to strengthen the capacities of the members of the Community of Learning of ANP.
- Training for conservation: it trained 500 park rangers and ensure a better performance in their functions and management of the ANPs.
- Conservation of marine resources in Central America: its purpose is contributing to the consolidation of marine and coastal protected areas.
