Coastal & Marine
The Coastal and Marine Conservation Program was created in response to the critical state marine resources and the accelerated transformation of the Mexican coastline. Its principal focus is on northwestern Mexico, with special emphasis on the Gulf of California. This region, recognized worldwide for its biodiversity, is a critical area for immediate conservation support due to the rapid tourism development taking place in the region.
The program funds initiatives in marine protected areas (MPAs) and their areas of influence to ensure the conservation of a network of representative marine-coastal ecosystems in the long term.
